This is a very simple recipe for my readers who are looking for preparing something at home rather than getting it from commercial places.

Ingredients:

  • Thin Poha (rice flakes) – 300 gms
  • Ground nut – 100 gms
  • Chana gram (pottukadala) – 100 gms
  • Copra (dry coconut) sliced – 100 gms
  • Cashew nut split – 50 gms
  • Poppy seeds (khus Khus) – 2 tbsp
  • Sugar – 2 tbsp (adjustable)
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chilly powder – 2 tbsp (adjustable)
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Asafoetida – 1/2 tsp

Tempering:

  • Oil – 3 tbsp
  • Mustard – 1 tsp
  • Dry red chilly – 7-8, halved
  • Curry leaves – a handful

Method of Preparation:

  • Dry the rice flakes in sun for atleast 5-6 hrs and it will turn crispy
  • Heat oil in a deep pan and prepare temper
  • Add dry coconut, ground nut, cashew nut, pottu kadala, khus khus, salt , turmeric powder, chilly powder, and sugar and fry till every thing turns lightly brown in shade
  • Add rice flakes and roast it in low flame until all the masala gets mixed with the rice flakes or poha
  • Remove from stove and serve it hot with evening tea….
