Wheat is an ideal food item suggested for diabetic patients since it is rich in fibre. Usually when we think of wheat food varieties, Roti is the first name comes into our mind. My mom is not an expert in making roti and she prefers to cook only the south Indian dishes like dosa, idly, puttu, idiyappam, etc. but wheat flour dosa is an exemption in her list.

It was served very rarely unless she made some preparations for the breakfast, the previous night. It is really very tasty since she adds scraped coconut lavishly and always topped with lot of butter or ghee (clarified butter).

Ingredients:

  • Whole wheat flour – 3 tbsp, heaped
  • Onion chopped – 1 tbsp (preferably button onions)
  • Green chilly chopped – 1-2
  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped – 1 tbsp
  • Coconut scraped – 1 tbsp (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Water enough to prepare the batter
  • Ghee/butter/oil to spray (optional)

Can make 3 dosa of same size

Method of Preparation:

  • In a mixing bowl, put all the ingredients together (except ghee/butter/oil) and make a smooth batter of loose consistency.
  • Heat a dosa griddle, smear little oil, pour 1 ladle full of batter, spread it from centre to the edges in a circular motion using the back of the ladle
  • When one side is done, spray little ghee/butter/oil (this is an optional step), flip over and cook the  other side too
  • Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the batter
  • Your instant wheat flour dosa is ready to serve

Serve it hot with or without any non spicy chutney
