My husband’s  favourite. It is really very easy to prepare and the preparation time is very low. It is very nutritious also. It is an ideal side dish for roti and rice of any type.

Ingredients:

  • Moong dhal – 100 gms
  • Small Onion – 6-7 nos (chopped finely)
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Dried Red chilly – 2 nos ( halved)
  • Curry leaves – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Ghee – 1 tbsp
  • Ginger –garlic chopped – 1 tsp
  • Tomato finely chopped – 1 (optional)
  • Green chilly – 2 nos
  • salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves (chopped) – 1 tbsp

Method of Preparation:

  • Wash moong dhal and soak for 10 mins
  • Pressure cook with 1 cup water, green chilly, tomato and salt ( 2 whistles )
  • Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds, add ginger – garlic, chopped onion and sauté well
  • Add red chilly halved and curry leaves
  • Add turmeric powder and sauté well
  • Add cooked dhal  and mix well
  • Shift from stove when it is boiled
  • Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves and serve it with rice or roti of your choice
