This recipe has been given by one of my friends, who is actually from Bangalore. I asked her once whether it is a Karnataka special or  Andra special,  her  mother  is a  kannadiga  and her father  is  a  Telugu, but she said this particular dish is her mother’s favourite. I tried it once and it came out well and somehow i liked its fresh Coriander Leaves flavour and it became one of my favourties
Serves 4 -5

Ingredients:

  • Chicken – 1kg(cut into 10 pieces)
  • Coriander Leaves – 100 gm(fresh)
  • red chilly powder – 2 tsp
  • coriander powder – 2 tsp
  • turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  • ginger – 1″ piece
  • garlic – 6 flakes
  • onion – 250 gm(finely sliced)
  • tomato – 3 medium
  • oil – 1 tbsp

Garam masala:

  • saunf – 1/4 tsp
  • cinnamon – 1/2
  • clove – 2
  • salt to taste

Method of Preparation:

  • wash and drain chicken pieces, keep aside
  • grind half of the onion sliced and tomatoes together to a smooth paste
  • grind ginger, garlic, Coriander Leaves, redchilly powder, coriander powder and garam masala to a fine paste
  • heat oil in a heavy bottomed skillet and fry the remaining sliced onion till it turns brown
  • add ground onion and tomato paste and saute till it is fragrant
  • add ground ginger-garlic and the remaining paste and saute till the oil separates
  • add chicken pieces, turmeric powder, 1 cup of water and salt to taste
  • mix well, cover and cook until the meat becomes tender

serve hot with rice or chappatti or with anything of your choice
Note: If u like u can add little coconut grind to a paste
