Respected Chairman, Mr Adam Naeem, Director Ms Ardene Raheed, Co-Founder Mr Ismail Rasheed and their family members, My AMDC Team and their Families and all others gathered here. A very good evening to you all.
I, on behalf of the management of AMDC, welcome you all to this evening .
Today, we are here to mark the Silver jubilee journey of AMDC. As you all know that AMDC is the longest serving private clinic in the Maldives and we have contributed substantially to the growth of health-care services in the Maldives. I myself feel privileged and lucky to be a part of this journey.
On this occasion, I would like to revisit the mission and vision of AMDC, along with a brief History, some ups and downs faced during the journey of AMDC.
AMDC started in 1991 in memory of Late Azmi Naeem, the son our chairman Mr Adam Naeem, with a mission to provide high quality healthcare services in the Maldives and a vision to be the first choice for professional private healthcare services.
AMDC started as a family clinic with basic diagnostic facilities like laboratory, Ultrasound scans, nursing, pharmacy, etc with 10 employees.
As of now, AMDC runs 3 clinics, one at Maafannu, the second is the Specialty Clinic at Henveeru and the third one is the AMDC Airport Clinic at the Velanna International Airport. We operate the dental and physiotherapy departments at a separate building near the main clinic. AMDC also has a dedicated block for handling work permit medical check ups for expatriates.
AMDC Speciality clinic started on Dec 2015 with an intention to bring in visiting doctors from neighbouring countries periodically and to extend services of a day clinic at a new location in Male’. We have specialists like Oncologists, Dermatologists, Gastroentrologists, Orothopedicians, ENT Surgeons visiting periodically. We have a GP for walk in patients through out the day. We also provide services of laboratory sample collection, nursing, ultrasound and echo at the speciality clinic. Ms Ashiya has joined recently as the Manager for Speciality Clinic.
AMDC Airport Clinic at Velana International airport is a 24 hours emergency clinic catering services to the passengers and others at the Airport Island. Arul Prabin has been managing this clinic efficiently working very closely with MACL.
At AMDC main clinic we have a full fledged laboratory, two digital x-rays, a procedure room, an observation room, a 4D Ultrasound machine with Echo facility and 10 consultation rooms.
We have expanded our dental department from one dentist to 4 full time dentists including a paediatric dental specialist. We have a visiting orthodontist, Dr Sunil, who has been working with AMDC for the past 17 years. On this occasion I would like to thank Dr Raghavendra for his efforts to bring up the dental department to a phenomenal level. I am taking this opportunity to inform you that we are adding two more new dental chairs as well as a high end OPG x-ray system to our dental department.
AMDC Physiotherapy department is also one of the best running departments with highly experienced professionals. Recently we have moved to a bigger space and increased our capacity to cater our services to the increased patients requirements. Right now we have 5 beds and we are adding few more advanced equipment very shortly.
AMDC Laboratory is managed by a strong team led by Stephen who is the most senior employee of AMDC. We are using latest analyzers and other equipment to provide accurate results and we participate in External quality control programs to maintain the quality of the results. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Mr Stephen and his team for the good job they are doing.
AMDC Laboratory plays a major role in offshore services like hygienic screening and other medical check ups. Currently we work with about 80 customers which includes resorts, fish processing units, small hotels, water bottling plants, etc in the Maldives.
AMDC X-ray department is equipped with two digital x-ray machines right now and as I mentioned earlier very soon we will have an OPG machine too. My sincere thanks to Mr Vasu and team for the great performance for all these years.
Inhouse and visiting Doctors play a vital role in handling different kinds of patients including emergencies. Over a period of time, most of our doctors are facilitated with fixed time slots and have their appointments full. I thank all the doctors working at AMDC for their contribution in building and maintaining the brand AMDC.
I would also like to thank the nursing department who provide great care to the walk in patients and their full support to the Doctors managing the patients.
AMDC is approved to different types of medical check ups including the work permit medical check up for expatriates working in Maldives. Mr Ikshan and his team operates this department complying to all the government rules and regulations.
AMDC uses a centralised Hospital Information system for billing, laboratory reporting, electronic patient records, medical check ups, and pax. Stored Information related to any patient can be retrieved from any of our clinics.
Moving towards the non-medical departments
Call centre and front office – We have a dedicated team of call centre operators who take care of all the inquiries, appointments, etc. Our front office team lead by Ms Nashaath is doing a good job handling huge number of calls as well as customers.
Our operations team including the HR , led by Ms Sohy takes care of the day to day operations, regulatory affairs, compliance and ensures smooth functioning of the clinic and other businesses. I would like to thank Sohy and her team on this occasion for all the efforts put in to organise this event in a short span of time. I would also like to mention the contribution of long serving employees Johny and Faruk assisting in day to day activities of the operations team.
Finance, its an integral part of any business. At AMDC all the matters related to finance is managed by a team led by Jones. Thank you Jones.
Moving towards the Pharma division which is a big department in terms of both number and revenue. Mr Abul Hassan is the person who has been doing a great job starting as a single pharmacist at AMDC to developing it to a department of about 30. AMDC operates 3 pharmacy retail outlets, One at Maafannu opposite our main clinic, AMDC Chemists at Velana International airport and the third one, AMDC Chemists 1 at Henveeru Gaadhoo building which is located on the Ground floor of the AMDC specialty clinic.

Procurement is another very important department handling all the imports and local purchases for the company We follow a centralized purchase system and is managed by Shaik and his team. Shaik Dawood is heading the Procurement, Stores and Maintenance department. I thank shaik and his team which includes the IT and maintenance along with the team of office boys for all their contributions and efforts.
AMDC also operates a wholesale distribution and marketing division called AMDC Pharma where we market and distribute pharmaceutical products. We are exclusive dealers for Pharmaceutical companies like Win-Medicare, Modi Mundi, Stedman Pharmaceuticals, Wallace Pharmaceutical and many more. We have a growing medical marketing team working with Doctors, Chemists and promoting our products. We hope to expand this team stronger and bigger in the coming years.
AMDC Trade is another division where we import and supply medical equipment and consumables.
AMDC represents big brands like GE Healthcare, 3M Health care, Ansell, HiMedia, ITO and many more brands.
AMDC played a major role in bagging the CT and MRI machine order and its installations at IGMH.
AMDC also supported the installation of GE Cathlab at IGMH last year.
To a great extent, AMDC has been successful in its mission and vision, but our hard work does not stop, we know that we need to do a lot more in coming days and we are prepared for that. During this journey we have gone through many ups and downs. We as a team are prepared to work hard and give our best to provide the best service to our customers.
We have tried our best to keep AMDC as a very employee friendly company having systematic annual appraisal system for career growth for our employees. AMDC is one of the very few companies in the Maldives paying annual performance bonus for full time employees for the past 10 years now.
I spoke all about our achievements and growth, but as usual, we also faced lot of hurdles in our journey. There were instances of losing orders or tenders due to unavoidable reasons or even could be a mistake of ours. We have always learned from our mistakes and made changes to our processes so that we do not repeat the same mistakes. We at AMDC believe that there is always a room for improvement and we work towards it.
On this historic day, on behalf of the management I would like to announce that AMDC has decided to give scholarships for 3 local students, 1 for medical degree, 1 for degree in physiotherapy and one for degree in laboratory technology. Even In the past AMDC has financially supported students for pursuing higher education.
In addition to this AMDC is donating one patient vital monitor and 10 desferol pumps to thalasemic centre.
I thank my board of directors for all the confidence that they have shown on the staffs of AMDC and for all their support during our good and bad times. I like to thank all our privileged customers, vendors and the Government departments for their co-operation and support during our long journey.
Before winding up, I would like to congratulate each and everyone who has been part of our journey in all means over this period and made it a successful one.
