Colombo is the capital of Sri Lanka and a very popular tourist destination. Colombo is a very well planned modern city with lots of new developments happening. You will find the best hotels, good roads, restaurants, etc in Colombo. I do have to travel to Colombo often for my official work. In this post, you will find my Colombo travel tips.

Travel Tips – Colombo

Visa on Arrival

You can get visa on arrival or you can get pre-approved visa online. I would advise to take a visa online so that you can save time and money when you reach the immigration.

Bandaranayake International Airport / Colombo Airport

You will be landing mostly at the Bandaranayake International Airport or commonly known as Colombo airport. Colombo is almost 1 hour drive from the airport. The airport area is known as Negombo. Once you come out of the airport, you will find counters for forex, taxi, mobile sims, etc. You should use the pre-paid taxi so that you can be sure of the charges.

Duty Free Shops at Colombo Airport

You will find some good duty free shops at the Colombo Airport
