Twitter is something very much familiar to all the internet users. You will find the President of United States of America to me on Twitter. The real and a big question which needs to be answered is who to follow?

If you are using twitter to just show that you have so much of followers and you follow so many people, then thats to the real use of twitter. I see twitter being used in a very wrong way. These could be because of the programs like Pay per tweet and other sponsored tweet programs. Commercialization of twitter will really spoil the actual purpose of this great tool. Spam tweets will grow for sure (Its already there).

How to select your followers

You should remove the concept of increasing your followers first. People will follow you if you have quality tweets. Your tweets will get listed in the search results if you have better tweets posted. You should follow people who you find providing your information that you are interested in. I find most of the twitter users just trying to follow randomly. I cannot understand how people follow 50,000+ people. Do they read all the status updates. I am sure NO because even if they are sitting in front of their twitter page for 24 hours a day, they won’t be able to do that. There is no point in doing things like this.

Twitter is an excellent tool and should be used in the way it is supposed to be used.

I have been working on my Twitter plugin for Wordpress. I had to do some research to add features which could help the users to select the right people to follow. The search feature of Twitter is the best way to know people and decide to follow or not. You can decide on factors like “Replies received”, “Tweet Topic”, etc. I have implemented some features which could help the user to decide people to follow.
