The 350 campaign in the Maldives kicked off with the world’s first ever underwater cabinet meeting at Girifushi today.

At 10.30am, President Mohamed Nasheed and 11 cabinet ministers used hand signals and a white slate to communicate five feet deep in the lagoon before signing a declaration calling on all nations to “join hands and reduce carbon emissions and bring down the level of carbon in the atmosphere to below 350 ppm”.
